Day 88 "Fix Your Eyes On Jesus, The Perfector of Our Faith" (Hebrews: Chapter 3)

ree

"Keep your eyes on the road," I remember the instructor reminding me back in high school while teaching me how to drive. Learning to drive wasn't just about turning on the ignition key, putting the car in gear, pressing the gas pedal down, and steering the car to go where you wanted to go. There were many things going on all around me as I was driving from one point to another. The goal of continually keeping one's eye on the road ahead was to see things as they were occurring and to anticipate your reactions ahead of time- not suddenly wait until the last moment.

So, too, as we travel through this lifetime, we are encouraged to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. It is easy to get overly involved with the things of this world and let them drown out the things of spiritual value and importance. In our daily walk as a Christian, we are constantly challenged to put the interests of others before our own. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, reminds us that we are no longer our own, that we were purchased at a price.

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Hebrews: Chapter Three

"Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess." Hebrews 3:1

"He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house." Hebrews 3:2

"Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses," Hebrews 3:3

"But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast." Hebrews 3:6

"See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God." Hebrews 3:12

"But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of your may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." Hebrews 3:13

"So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief."

Hebrews 3:19

Key verses for me:

"Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess." Hebrews 3:1

"Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses," Hebrews 3:3

For me, it's almost an impossibility to think of something good and something bad at the exact same time within a span of one second. Try it. I have come to believe that I can seize control of one moment of time. The best way that I have come to understand to live that moment of time in the best possible way is to do so in love, to seek to put the other person's interest at heart before my own. Then, stringing that moment with all the others, I shall live my day out in the best way that I can. Truly, my Savior, my Lord, and my mentor is Jesus, himself. I will do well to fix my eyes upon him.

The apostle Paul writes:

"What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from god and is by faith." Philippians 3:8- 9

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold of me." Philippians 3:12

*******************************************************

"let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12: 1-2

May your eyes and heart be opened to all that Jesus has done for you. In his love, I'll see you tomorrow...

"Carpe Momentum in Love" (Seize the moment in love)
