Day 157 "Handling The Up's and Down's Of Life"

ree

When it comes to a particular stock in the stock market, one can be buffeted by various emotions resulting from the up and down movements of a stock that occur in just one day. If you own the stock, positive emotions of euphoria arise when the stock moves upward. And besieges our emotions with fear when the stock drops in value. However, when one stretches out the time frame from one day to a week, a month, or even a year, the day to day fluctuations of the stock movements have little affect on one's demeanor.

The take away from this is to apply the same logic to the rest of the areas of our lives. Things are going to happen. That's life! But the more we are able to look further down the road, the less we will find are emotions will ride up and down like a roller coaster. The ideal outlook and focus for the Christian is to look all the way ahead to after this life-to God's kingdom to come. No, it doesn't mean just stick your head in the ground, do nothing, and wait. It means that a proper viewpoint to this world is that it is temporary in its nature and being so, we are merely passing through like visitors to a foreign land. When it is that our ultimate destiny is assured for us, we can find peace and take comfort knowing that our ultimate destiny has already been procured for us. We can never lose it.

"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above,

where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set you mind on the things above,

not on Earthly things." Colossians 3:1-2

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on Earth, where moth and rust destroy, and

where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourself treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

"But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world." John 8:23

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will

live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

John 11:25-26

The further out that you set the thoughts of your mind upon, the more rest and peace you

you will discover for today.

Knowing that this life is transitory can bring much anxiousness to the soul. But the more you become aware of a world beyond this one, a world believed to be of eternal nature, the less concern you will be about the permanence and ramifications of this life.

In his love, see you tomorrow...
