I am old enough to remember when you could greet or say goodbye to someone at the actual gate area at the airport without having a ticket. My, how things have changed! I often thought that such greetings and departures would make a wonderful documentary of the various emotions that we display as human beings.
I was particularly touched by the recounting of an experience that a young lady had witnessed one time at one of the gates. Apparently, there was a couple in their 70's who were reuniting with each other at the gate-one of whom had just gotten off the airplane. Hugging and kissing, she was sure there was a story behind their separation and a long separation it must have been. Unable to contain her curiosity any longer she approached the older couple, "Excuse me and pardon me for interrupting, but I couldn't help but notice your affection for one another. It was so sweet to see. If I may ask, how long have you been apart from one another?" The response came quicakly, "Oh, just since yesterday." "How long have you been together?" she asked. "Married fifty four years and counting!" the two replied, still smiling at one another like a couple of school kids in love.
One of the amazing things of "Carpe Momentum in Love," which means "To seize the moment in love" is its ability to make one completely aware of oneself and one's surroundings in that moment. It is, as if to say, that time was being held in animation suspension long enough to be fully cognizant of everything going on around you. Your emotions are heightened. Your reflexes and awareness are razor-sharp. Colors appear deeper and fuller than normal. Your acceptance of self is complete and you are fully comfortable with your surroundings, setting you completely free to see the needs and desires of the people around you. It is a moment in which you are fully engaged with life. Current day psychology calls it, "mindfulness." Like a superlative, there is no better way to experience and live out this moment of time. And strung together continuously long enough, moments turn into minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, and becomes what constitutes as a lifetime. To what will you give your life away to?
The Bible says that life comes down to two things:
"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Galatians 5:6
"And this is his command: to believe in the name of his son, Jesus Christ, and to love
one another as he commanded us." 1 John 3:23
Everything in the Christian faith falls under these two things. How simple to navigate our lives than by these two navigational points of faith and love. If each of us committed ourselves to these two edicts, what room would be left for wars, injustice, rioting, killing, rage, selfishness, abuse, and inequality? "Carpe Momentum in Love" would help strip away all the unwanted marks and scares in life as if one were refinishing a beautiful hardwood floor. With each removal of imperfection, the natural beauty of the wood is brought to the forefront. Imagine what the world might look like if we each chose to live out each moment of our lives in love? The landscape of the land, I believe, would look totally different that the one we see today. We can't control the world, and I don't believe God intends us to, but we can take control over our own lives and live it the best way possible.
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2

"Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for
whoever loves others has fulfilled the law." Romans 13:8
Do you want to make a profound difference upon this world? Then, love!
In his love, see you tomorrow...
