Day 121 "Are You Lost? Do you even want to be Found?"

ree

Imagine just for a moment, that the building going up in flames is your business. You spent your whole life building up the business, and now, someone thought this was necessary. Caught up in the aftermath of George Floyd's death, perhaps thousands of miles away, I ask you, "How is the burning of a business or looting of stores justifiable and how does this pay homage or lend respect to a man's life that was unfairly and unjustifiably taken by a police officer. What is the connection between the store owner and George Floyd? What is the connection between the store owner and the person who set the store ablaze? Probably none! The escalating tragedy to George Floyd's death is found in the countless others who have been victimized in this grand illusion of justice perpetrated by those who felt self righteous in bringing condemnation or pain to others-justifiable or not. But when the ashes become all that is left of a once thriving business, when someone else's dreams have been shattered in the wake of someone's foolishness, an impulsive moment, human nature once again raises up its evil head and if we are honest, we are reminded that we live in an imperfect world , including our own short comings and sinful nature. Who are we to judge others when we ourselves are incapable of living a life on our own that meets the standards of a holy and just God. Yes, the person who set this store ablaze is certainly guilty of a great offense. But lest we start throwing stones to condemn the guilty, should we not take a look in the mirror to see our own failings. Let the healing begin with a look inward to our own lives.

"What benefit did you reap at the time from the things you are now ashamed of? Romans 6:21

As long as we fail to look at our own lives first, the George Floyd's of this world will continue to happen. The only way to mitigate and quell injustice, bigotry, hatred, racism, and violence, is to turn the light upon our own deceptive hearts and surrender to the life changing transformation of God's love that accepts each one of us just as we are. I for one was lost. In the depths of my own insecurities and self-centeredness, I encountered a life changing love.

"For he rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."

Colossians 1:13

When real love, the kind that is unconditional and accepting, takes root in a hardened heart, a great transformation begins. The things of this world take on a different meaning as we begin to see things from an eternal viewpoint. The shadows of living in fear and insecurity dissipates as the light of God's love illuminates the truth of who we really are regardless of the color of our skin or being accepted or not by one another. Mercy and grace begin to chisel away at our self-righteous spirit and hardened heart until one day, all that remains is a Christ-like heart which seeks to live every moment of every day in an attitude of love. Afterall, in the end, love is all that really matters.

"The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love." Galatians 5:6

Do you feel lost, like no one even notices you? Are you ready to be found and have a huge difference in your life occur? Then, I invite you to discover the love of God through his Son Jesus Christ. To him, you have never been lost. He knows exactly who you are!

"and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith." Philippians 3:9

In Christ, our lives our transformed spiritually. In justice or in injustice, there is no greater

ability to live out our lives then when our motives and identities are merged in the Spirit of love. Even when the world seems to be going up in flames, our ability to focus inwardly to our own actions, making sure that whatever we are doing in the moment is being guided by love, then we will have fulfilled our duty and obligations to one another. Love will make a way if we simply give it a chance.

"the reality, however, is found in Christ." Colossians 2:17

Let Jesus take away your darkness and light a pathway to reveal your true identity in His love, just like He has already done for me. In his love, see you here tomorrow.
