Day 108 "Overwhelmed By Life?"

ree

"I am over whelmed with troubles and my life draws near to death." Psalm 88:3

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by life that you feel that everything around you is spinning out of control and that the only things you see ahead of you is helplessness and despair? You are not alone.

A recent report from Mental Health America, a nonprofit founded in 1909 that’s dedicated to addressing the needs of people living with mental illness and promoting good mental health in America, offers some statistics pertaining to the current state of mental health in America. According to its 2019 State of Mental Health in America report:

Over 44 million American adults (18.07%), have a mental health condition. That actually represents a slight decrease from the 2015 report, which found 18.19% of adults had a mental health condition. The rate of youth experiencing a mental health issue continued rising, and 62% of teens and children with a major depressive episode received no treatment.

So, how does this help you? It doesn't! It just means that there are a lot of other people going through some of the same issues as you. Life can be pretty tough on us all. And as long as we look at the world and all of its problems going on, we can get totally over-whelmed. I get it! But maybe it is time to look elsewhere, look in a new direction. Perhaps, rather than looking outward, begin to look upward and inward.

"I lift my eyes to the hills-where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121-1-2

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the

renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a

way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:19

"Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16

"So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Hebrews 13:6

In Christ, you will find total acceptance of who you are, just as you are. There, in him, you will discover unconditional love. In him, your eyes will be opened to see that although everything around you is temporary and constantly changing here on earth, the Spirit within you will confirm that God's kingdom is a reality and awaits for you. Eternity is a foundational rock upon which we can brace ourselves for all the changing realities of this life and see that the best is yet to come. Like the Apostle Paul, we will come to understand that this life on earth is not our home.

" But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ." Philippians 3:20

So take heart in whatever circumstances you find yourself. God is for you, not against you.

What have you to lose if you were to trust him? You may find that you have everything to gain!

" For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

In Christ, you are a child of God and belong in God's family. You are an heir, an orphan no longer.

********************************************************************

When we see nothing but darkness all around us, all we need to do is to open the door to the light and the light will come flooding into our life and drive the darkness away.

Jesus said,

"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12

I pray that you will take a step out in faith and trust Jesus.

In his love, see you, again, tomorrow...
